Union Avenue Kroger - Building The Community
Union Avenue Kroger continues to develop, bringing vision to fruition.
Pickering Firm, Inc. was selected by The District Land Development Co., LLC to provide surveying, civil engineering, environmental consulting and construction administration for The District at Eastover site. Civil engineering design included all grading and drainage, storm water detention, water and sewer design, erosion control, and paving. A traffic analysis study included an assessment of the trip generation, driveway traffic operation and driveway geometries.
For the last 100 years, the 21-acre site has been owned by the State of Mississippi and until 2000, was the home of the Mississippi School for the Blind (MSB). Once the MSB moved to a nearby facility, the site sat abandoned. In 2012, the property was acquired and plans for redevelopment initiated. The redevelopment vision for the $105 million project is for a 585,000 square-foot mixed use center that will include upscale office, retail and residential offerings. At this time a hotel, bank, restaurant, a movie theater, a main office building, and 190 residential lofts will form the project’s perimeter.
