Pickering was founded as Pickering Engineering Company in 1946 by O. L. Pickering. Located originally at 349½ North Main Street in Memphis, the firm offered civil and surveying services. Over the next forty years, the firm would add structural, mechanical, electrical, transportation, environmental, architectural and energy management services.
In 1999, Pickering acquired Engineering Associates, Inc. in Jackson, Mississippi, which established a presence in the state that would expand over the next decade. Today, our full-service engineering and architectural firm is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee with offices located throughout Mississippi (Hernando, Flowood, Pearl, and Biloxi) and in Jonesboro and Little Rock, Arkansas.
Our philosophy in 1946 was simple: to provide service and good work. That philosophy has withstood the test of time and continues to be the cornerstone of our business model. We are an employee-owned, family-oriented firm, offering excellent training and benefits. As a result, we have loyal, dedicated employees who take pride in going the extra mile to understand client issues and provide solutions.

I grew up in Oakland, TN, with my mom, dad and sister. I moved to Memphis to go to the University of Memphis and have been married for almost 5 years. Two years ago, we took in a teen who needed a home and we have been the three musketeers ever since!
In high school, I dual enrolled at Southwest TN Community College and got an electrical engineering certificate. After that, I knew that electrical wasn’t the path I wanted to take, but I did love engineering. While touring the U of M, I felt at home in the Civil Department and decided it was what I wanted to do.
Get experience outside of the classroom while you are in school. Being able to connect the math from the classroom to practical applications will make your job a lot easier and exciting. Find someone you connect with and have them mentor you. It is always nice to have someone to answer your questions when transitioning from student to professional.
Proud, Passionate, Prepared --- I am constantly impressed with the quality and care of the work that is produced here.
If there is any sort of antique/art/crafts festival I am probably there. I also love to cook and in the past few years I have gotten really into organic/heirloom gardening.
How to run and actually like doing it.
Probably Gilmore Girls because I love the fast paced dialogue and relationships between the characters, but also maybe Schitt’s Creek because the dry humor is hilarious.
