Union Avenue Kroger - Building The Community
Union Avenue Kroger continues to develop, bringing vision to fruition.
This project included new alignment of approximately eight miles of I-269 in Shelby and Fayette Counties, the final segment to complete the outer loop around Memphis. The project included grade separation improvements to several side roads along the corridor with interchanges at S.R. 57 and S.R. 193 and accounted for a future interchange to accommodate the planned extension of Walnut Grove Road.
The new alignment crossed the Wolf River, necessitating a substantially long bridge to satisfy the environmental requirements. An earthen berm was constructed adjacent to a neighborhood for noise abatement. Close coordination with several stakeholders including Spring Hill Golf Course, Memphis Light, Gas and Water, and the TDOT Structures Division ensured a seamless project.
