Pickering was the ideal choice to provide the broad array of services that would be necessary to open up Star Landing road to current and future traffic. In total, Pickering provided the necessary NEPA documentation, survey, design, and construction engineering services required to replace the one-lane underpass with a new, state-of-the-art, four-lane underpass. To keep rail traffic flowing continuously throughout the project, a temporary "shoo-fly" track approximately one mile long was constructed. The permanent track required a grade change of ten feet to accommodate the new roadway and the installation of two bridges.
